At the dog park

Here's a slew of sketches of dog parks. I sort of obsessively made these little compositions for a while. I know they're very Keith Haring, but I was really just scrawling intuitively.

They're probably a year old now, but I dug them up on a hard drive recently and thought they needed a home here. They culminated in a couple of watercolors. These were also the precursors to the "Job Market" piece I posted here a long while back. Hope you like them a little.

Cambridge Local First

I did these a little while back for a great organization called Cambridge Local First. Their mission is to promote sustainable business practices and foster community in Cambridge, MA. The cards represent various landmarks in Cambridge, and are intended for distribution to the customers of locally-owned businesses. You can download PDF versions of the cards on the CLF website.

An old project

I dug these out of an external hard-drive today and thought I might throw them up here. They're kind of old at this point, and are pretty useless, but there are aspects that I appreciate in a couple of them. I put them together as a series of sketched suggestions for t-shirt designs produced by a women's clothing company. Ha—they didn't like them much. Ah well.

AdLab

These are some logo concepts for a student-run advertising agency at BU. They didn't use my designs. I might just be too radical. Or just not cut out for logo design. Or just not cut out for logo design for AdLab. I'll figure it out later.

The modern scribe

Here's a small spot illustration I did for the blog section of a student online publication at BU called the COMmunicator. I'm told the illustration should go up sometime soon. Anyway, here's the final and a few of the concept thumbnails (some of which I preferred to the concept they chose). 

These are a couple of sketches I did for fun while concepting for this illustration.

Furrier

The second in the series of three that I did for Arafat's Dyson campaign. As should be obvious, it's a kitty and a wookie. Along with the final, I've included the series of thumbnails, original digital sketch, and the watercolor. In some ways I prefer the digital sketch to the final, but I think there are elements that I admire in each. Either way it was an interesting process. Digital can sometimes be frustrating because it allows for so much finicky reworking. A good ol', wet, slapdash wash of paint can sometimes say so much more than the precision of Photoshop or Painter brushes. The second thumbnail, by the way, is my favorite. I may follow this piece with another quick final of that drawing.

Furry

This is the first of a few illustrations I painted digitally for my good friend Arafat Kazi. They're for a vacuum cleaner campaign. They were fun as hell to do. I originally finished a digital sketch for each piece Arafat could use for a spec. portfolio, but wanted to go back into and finish each one. Here's the werewolf/ dog illustration. The thumbnail, watercolor, and original digital sketch accompany the final.
