Tram

Tram is one of the best, and oldest, models we are lucky enough to draw at BAS.

This particular night, he told me he has lived all over the world. He said he went to school at Harvard, MIT, and a handful of other colleges, though he only ever earned one degree.

That is, of course, if you don't count the certificates he earned by mail in Japanese culture and language. Anyway, I'm glad he ended up in our company, because we (and our drawings) are better for it.

Reclining Figure

This model was great. Didn't catch her name, unfortunately. As usual, I could have used another few hours to finish this piece. Time evaporates when you're drawing.

Had some trouble with her left forearm and hand, but I don't mind how it accidentally implies activity. Please click the image below to enlarge it.

Christophe

Another three-hour session, this time with Christophe modeling. I've drawn him a few times before, but never for so long. More drawings from these longer sessions to come.

Three-Hour Poses

I've been going to longer-pose sessions to see what I can get accomplished. Thus far, I've liked the more focused vibe, and have been pretty happy with the results.

The below drawing is from a few weeks ago. Please click to enlarge.

Christophe

It's been an awfully long time since I've posted here. I'm hoping to change that in the coming weeks.

These are of Christophe, who put on some of the most emotionally dramatic poses I've ever seen. At one point, he took the condensation from his beer can and dabbed it onto his cheeks to mimic tears (see the last drawing). He also told me about a time he dog-sat and killed the owner's pet (by accident).

All in all a great session. Testament to my silence on this blog, I probably drew Christophe sometime in June 2013.

Prospect Park Sketches

A series of drawings from a couple of Sundays spent in Prospect Park. Some are from a month or so ago, a couple are from earlier this beautiful afternoon.

Drawings of Rita

I've been adding more light and color back into my drawings lately. Rita is my constant, brilliant model. The first two are fairly bizarre-looking (not much of a likeness in either), but I still like them as drawings.

Squinting in Sunday Morning Sunlight

My mom is a very patient model (although this was a pretty quick sketch). Don't think her nose is really that big, for the record.
